Story # 1: – ” His Humanity”

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam rejected the suggestion of placing pieces of broken glass on the wall of the building. Because it could hurt the birds sitting on the wall

This is at a time when Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was working in Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO).

Then others working with him to protect the building suggested putting pieces of broken vials on the wall of the building.

But when Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam came to know about this, he stopped everyone from doing so. Because by doing this, birds sitting on that wall could get injured.

Story # 2: – “Leadership”

Soon after the announcement that Dr. Kalam could be the next President of the country, he went to deliver a speech at a school. Due to the power cut there, how did they control the situation.

At that time, about 400 students came to listen to Dr. Kalam’s speech at the school, but then the electricity went out there. But Dr. Kalam did not stop his speech, he went in the middle of the crowd and finished his speech from there in his high voice.

Story # 3: Abdul Kalam – “Humbleness”

Once, when some youth and teenagers requested to meet President Kalam, the President not only gave him his precious time but also listened carefully to his thoughts!

Once in the President’s office, some youth requested to meet the country’s first civilian President, Kalam. Then Dr. Kalam not only met the children in his private room in Rashtrapati Bhavan, but also gave them his precious time and also listened carefully to his thoughts. Rashtrapati Kalam gave his life-long savings and salaries to PURA (an organization that aims to provide urban amenities in rural areas).

The Government of India takes care of the current President as well as all former Presidents. So when Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam became the President, he gave his lifetime’s earnings to an institution called PURA. Dr. Kalam called Dr. Varghese Kurien (Founder of Amul) and asked that I am now the President of this country and the Government of India will take care of me till I am alive, so what will I do with this savings and salary?

At the convocation ceremony of IIT Varanasi, Dr. Kalam was called as the chief guest. There were 5 chairs on the stage. The middle chair was for Dr. Kalam and the other four for top university officials. Dr. Kalam noticed that his chair was slightly taller than the others. He then refused to sit on it and requested the university vice-chancellor to sit on it.
